3 Day Mount Kenya Climbing Safari (Naro Moru Base)

The three day safari is designed for those who are reasonably fit and healthy and who wish to take a trek up to Point Lenana, the third highest peak of Mt Kenya. The trek starts in the afternoon.

DAY 1
Morning at leisure in the lodge sorting out climbing gear and other personal preparations for the climb ahead. In the afternoon, depart, accompanied by knowledgeable guides for your drive to the Naro Moru Track road head. From here you may walk or you can be driven up to the Met Station (10,000ft). Check in at the Log Cabins at the Met Station. Spend the rest of the afternoon on short hikes designed to get you to acclimatize to this altitude in preparation for the start of the challenging climb the following day. Dinner and overnight at a Cabin log at the Met Station.

DAY 2
Start your trek after an early breakfast. A good brisk walk should get you to MacKinders Camp ( 14,000ft) after 5-6 hours. From here enjoy the beauty of the Teleki Valley and the spectacular view of the mountains' main peaks. Stop at Mackinders for your well deserved rest, dinner and overnight.

DAY 3
Start at dawn for an attempt to reach Point Lenana summit (16, 400ft) before the clouds cover the majesty of the mountain. On successfully attaining the summit, you begin your descent back to the base station from where you are driven back to the Naro Moru River Lodge.
